Lions Waive WR Corey Washington With Injury Designation

The Detroit Lions officially placed WR CoreyĀ Washington on waivers Friday with the injury designation.

Should Washington clear waivers on Monday, it’s likely he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Washington, 24, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Newberry back in May of 2014. He lasted just a few weeks with the Cardinals before he was waived and later claimed by the Giants.

New York later waived him with an injury settlement coming out of the preseason.

After a brief stint with the Redskins, the Lions signed him to a future/reserve contract after the 2015 season.

In 2014, Washington appeared in 14 games for the Giants and caught five passes for 52 yards receiving and a touchdown.
