Report: Lions Reach An Agreement With DT Justin Bannan

Update:

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Detroit Lions has agreed to terms with former Broncos DT Justin Bannan.

Bannan, 33, garnered interest from the Lions and Chargers in recent weeks. Last year, Bannan graded out as an above-average defensive lineman, according to Pro Football Focus.

Defensive line happens to one of the Lions areas of strength, but it probably won’t hurt to have some depth behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley

Michael Gehlken reports that free agent DT Justin Bannan will take a physical for the Lions on Tuesday, but the San Diego Chargers are still interested in possibly signing him.

The Chargers have shown interest in Bannan in recent weeks, so the fact that he is meeting with the Lions could increase their efforts to get him under contract.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that free agent DT Justin Bannan will visit with the Detroit Lions on Monday.

  • Klis finds it “baffling” that Bannan is still available at this point in the offseason.

The Broncos drafted Sylvester Williams in the first-round of the recent NFL draft and added Terrance Knighton in free agency, so it’s clear that they have made the decision to get younger upfront.

Detroit has Ndamukong SuhNick FairleyJason JonesIsrael Idonije and Ezekiel Ansah all on their defensive line, so playing time could be hard to come by if the team chooses to sign him.
