Lions Worked Out 5 DBs Including Bacarri Rambo, Major Wright & Sergio Brown

According to Justin Rogers of the Detroit News, the Lions worked out five defensive backs last including Sergio Brown, Asa Jackson, Jaiquawn Jarrett, Bacarri Rambo and Major Wright.

  • Beyond that, Rogers reports that the Lions also hosted WR Andre Caldwell for a visit.

Wright, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Bears back in 2010. He played four years in Chicago before signing on with the Buccaneers in 2014.

Wright was in the final year of his two-year, $3 million contract that included $1.25 million guaranteed and set to  make a base salary of $1.5 million in 2016 when he was released during the final week of the preseason.

In 2015, Wright appeared in nine games and recorded 25 tackles, no interceptions and four pass defenses.

Rambo, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. He lasted just over a year in Washington before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season.

Rambo later caught on with the Bills towards the end of the 2014 season before testing the open market as a free agent this year.

In 2015, Rambo appeared in 15 games for the Bills and recorded 62 tackles, one sack, an interception, two forced fumbles, a recovery and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 57 safety out of 89 qualifying players.

Brown, 28, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in 2010. He lasted just over two years in New England before he was waived at the start of the 2012 season and later claimed off of waivers by the Colts.

The Jaguars elected to sign him to a three-year contract in May of last year before releasing him this past April in a move that freed up $2,250,000 in available cap space.

The Falcons signed him to a contract a few months ago before releasing him during the final week of the preseason.

In 2015, Brown appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars and recorded 37 tackles, 1.5 sacks, no interceptions and two pass defenses.
