Lions Worked Out 8 Players Including Kickers Dan Carpenter & Travis Coons

The Detroit Lions brought in eight players for workouts on Tuesday including kickers Dan Carpenter and Travis Coons, according to Howard Balzer.

The full list of tryouts for the Lions includes:

  1. DE Jacquies Smith
  2. K Dan Carpenter
  3. K Travis Coons
  4. LS Andrew East
  5. LS Nolan Frese
  6. LS Jeff Overbaugh
  7. DT Toby Johnson
  8. DEs Joby Saint Fleur

The Lions have reportedly signed Smith to a contract.

Carpenter, 31, began his NFL career with the Dolphins back in 2008. He spent five years in Miami before he was released before the start of the 2013 season. Since then, he has played for the Cardinals, Jets and Bills.

Carpenter was entering the final year of his four-year, $9.95 million contract and set to make a base salary of $2.125 million for the 2017 season when the Bills released him back in March.

In 2016, Carpenter appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and converted 19 of 25 field goal attempts (76 percent) to go along with 40 of 45 extra point tries (88.9 percent).
