Lions Worked Out Veteran WR Nate Washington & QB Phillip Sims

Doug Kyed reports that the Lions brought in veteran WR Nate Washington for a workout on Wednesday.

  • Adam Caplan adds that the Lions worked out QB Phillip Sims as well.
  • Along with Sims, Adam Caplan reports that the Lions worked out WR’s Levi Norwood and McKale McKay.

This is the second reported visit for Washington after he recently worked out for the Saints since he became available.

Washington, 32, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin back in 2005. He wound up playing out his rookie contract before signing a free agent deal with the Titans.

The Texans wound up signing him to a one-year contract last year. Washington caught on with Patriots this past March when he signed a one-year, $1.065 million contract. However, he was cut loose during the final week of the preseason.

In 2015, Washington appeared in 14 games for the Texans and recorded 47 receptions for 658 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.
