London Fletcher Returning To Washington Next Season?

Washington Redskins LB London Fletcher is enjoying being a part of the Pro Bowl after another solid season for the 36year old veteran. Fletcher will be a free agent in the coming weeks but he says that his “first choice” is to re-sign with the Redskins, “if they want me,” via Redskins.com.

It’s rare to see a middle linebacker continue to play as well as Fletcher has despite being as old as he is. Fletcher’s played in 224 consecutive games and has never missed a game in his NFL career. The guy leads the Redskins in tackles every year and this season he actually led the NFL in total tackles but was still a late addition to the Pro Bowl.

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan seems open to re-signing him despite the fact that he’ll be 37 next year.

“He is playing at a very high level,” coach Mike Shanahan said. “What I mean is you want him on your football teamYou want him out there as much as you can have him out there. And you can’t say that about a lot of players as they get older.”

Fletcher will draw interest from NFL teams despite his age but figures to return to the Redskins next season.
