Louisville QB Lamar Jackson Visited With Saints

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that the Saints hosted Louisville QB Lamar Jackson for a pre-draft visit on Tuesday.

The Saints have been doing work on quarterback prospects the past few years in an attempt to find a long-term replacement for Drew Brees. However, New Orleans holds the No. 27 overall pick in this year’s draft, so unless Jackson drops in round one, it’s unlikely he’ll be available to the Saints by the time they’re on the clock.

Last month, Saints HC Sean Payton said he likes Jackson as a prospect.

“I like him. I like him. He’s athletic. He’s got a magic smile to him. He’s a leader,” Payton said. “With Lamar, you feel it in the room, and you can tell he can lead. … He’s a special guy. You just have to be around him, interview him, and you can see why he was successful.”

Jackson has met with the Chargers in recent weeks and is scheduled to visit with the Browns and Ravens before this year’s draft.

There have been reports that teams have had trouble setting up workouts and meetings with Jackson, but it appears that the Saints were able to get him on their schedule.

During his three years at Louisville, Jackson threw for 9,043 yards while completing 57 percent of his passes to go along with 69 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. He also rushed for 4,132 yards and 50 touchdowns.

We have the Cardinals taking Jackson at No. 15 overall in our latest 2018 NFL Mock Draft.
