Lovie Smith Plans On Sitting Out The 2013 Season?

According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, former Bears head coach Lovie Smith is expected to sit out the 2013 season rather than take a job as a defensive coordinator.

Smith interviewed for three head coaching positions in recent weeks, but lost out on all of them. There are still two jobs available, the Cardinals and the Jaguars, but Smith isn’t considered a strong candidate for either job at this point.

Chicago still owes him $5 million because his contract was guaranteed for 2013 season, so Smith is expected to sit out next season with hopes of securing a job in 2014.
