Marcus Mariota Visiting Buccaneers On Monday

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers will host Oregon QB Marcus Mariota at the team’s facility in Tampa on Monday.

  • Stroud adds that they will also have a private workout with Mariota in April.

This is similar to the visit Florida State QB Jameis Winston took a few weeks, and really isn’t all that surprising consider that teams meet with a number of prospects during the draft process

Mariota had his Pro Day on Friday, and while there were some mixed reviews, it’s doubtful that he’s going to see a dip in his draft stock like Teddy Bridgewater did a year ago.

  • Rich Cimini mentioned that Mariota was set to meet with the Buccaneers, Eagles and Titans at his Pro Day Friday.
  • NFL GMs John Schneider (Seahawks) Jason Licht (Buccaneers), Ruston Webster (Titans), Scot McCloughan (Redskins), and Mike Maccagnan (Jets) were all on hand for Mariota’s Pro Day. (Lindsay Rhodes/Albert Breer)

Tampa Bay holds the No. 1 overall pick, so they will get their pick of Winston or Mariota, but the consensus belief right now is that Winston is likely to be the first player to come off the board.

During his three years at Oregon, Mariota threw for 10,796 yards while completing 66.8 percent of his passes to go along with 105 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions.
