Mark Sanchez A Possibility For Seahawks’ Backup QB Job?

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times has heard that veteran QB Mark Sanchez could be a possibility for the Seahawks’ backup quarterback job.

The Seahawks waived QB Trevone Boykin on Tuesday shortly after news of domestic violence allegations surfaced involving him, so they could clearly use some depth behind Russell Wilson.

Condotta adds that there’s a chance the Seahawks could re-sign QB Austin Davis, who’s currently a free agent.

This is the first reported interest in Sanchez since the free agent market officially opened.

Sanchez, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2009. He spent five years in New York before signing on with the Eagles in 2014 after the Jets cut him loose.

Sanchez later returned to Philadelphia on a two-year contract before being traded to the Broncos in return for a 2017 conditional pick that wasn’t exercised. The Cowboys elected to sign Sanchez to a contract for the 2016 season and after one year in Dallas, he signed a one-year contract with the Bears last offseason.

In 2016, Sanchez appeared in two games for the Cowboys and completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 93 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
