Marquand Manuel Among Candidates For Bengals’ DC Job

Tom Pelissero reports that former Falcons DC Marquand Manuel, Texas A&M DC Mike Elko, Florida DC Todd Grantham, Saints DB coach Aaron Glenn and Rams DB coach Aubrey Pleasant have all been linked to the Bengals for their defensive coordinator vacancy and other defensive coaching jobs.

The Bengals had been linked to some veteran candidates including Jack Del Rio, Dom Capers and Mike Nolan, but Del Rio and Capers decided it wasn’t the right fit for them and there hasn’t been a lot of serious buzz about Nolan, so it’s not surprising to hear that Zac Taylor is considering other options.

Manuel, 39, began his NFL coaching career with the Seahawks back in 2012 as an assistant special teams coach. After three seasons in Seattle, the Falcons hired him as their secondary coach and he worked his way up to defensive coordinator in 2017.

The Falcons’ defense currently ranks No. 28 in yards allowed, No. 25 in points allowed, No. 25 in rushing yards allowed and No. 27 in passing yards allowed.
