Matt Flynn Loses Backup Job To Undrafted Rookie Matt McGloin

Raiders HC Dennis Allen announced on Wednesday that undrafted rookie free agent Matt McGloin will take over as the team’s backup quarterback behind Terrelle Pryor.

“It is what it is. It didn’t work out,” Allen said, via Vic Tafur.

As if things couldn’t possibly get worse for Matt Flynn, he’s now lost a job for the third time in less than two years.

Allen basically threw Flynn under the bus following their Week 4 loss to the Washington Redskins.

“Look,” said Allen, via CSN Bay Area. “Matt didn’t play well, and we’ve gotta move on. We’ve got to get better than that.”

Flynn, 28, signed a two-year contract worth $11.5 million with the Raiders. Oakland sent Seattle a fifth-round pick in the 2014 draft along with a conditional pick in 2015.

Meanwhile, Jerry McDonald reports that Pryor is “symptom free” and will start against the San Diego Chargers in Week 5 with McGloin as his backup.
