Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that Colts backup QB Matt Hasselbeck has decided to retire once the 2014 season is over.
Hasselbeck, 38, signed a two-year, $7.25 million contract with the Colts this offseason. Hasselbeck has adapted to the role of a mentor for starter Andrew Luck, while also having the necessary experience to be a reliable insurance option for Indianapolis.
Drafted in the sixth-round by the Packers in 1998, Hasselbeck’s main success came during his stay with the Seattle Seahawks. He owns several Seahawk franchise records and even led the team to a Super Bowl XL. Hasselbeck spent some time with the Titans as well.
If his career were to end without him playing another snap, he would finish with a completion percentage of 60.4 to go along with 34,554 yards passing, 201 passing touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 82.2.
