$16M-$18M Per Year A “Realistic” Range For Sam Bradford?

Multiple league sources have told Matt Lombardo of NJ.com in the past week that a “more realistic” salary for Eagles impending free agent QB Sam Bradford is between $16-$18 million per year.

The franchise tag would run a team close to $20 million, so assuming these figures are accurate, Bradford could be looking at a salary just a few million off.

Recent reports have said that the Eagles are not expected to use their franchise tag Bradford, which means he’ll likely test the open market in the coming weeks.

The Eagles have already come up as speculative landing spots for Chase Daniel and Nick Foles, assuming he’s cut by the Rams.

New Eagles HC Doug Pederson told reporters at the Senior Bowl a few weeks ago that Bradford would “love to be back” in Philadelphia next year.

Yeah he’d love to be back,” Pederson said, via NJ.com. “That’s a thing we have to continue to look at. I think he is a kid that would definitely fit the kind of offensive structure that I’ll bring.”

Bradford, 28, played out the final year of his six-year, $78 million contract that included $50 million guaranteed.

The free agent market for quarterbacks isn’t very deep with Bradford, Kirk Cousins, and Ryan Fitzpatrick being the most notable players, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up and the kind of contract he signs.

In 2015, Bradford threw for 3,725 yards while completing 66 percent of his passes to go along with 19 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.

We have Bradford featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
