Matt Schaub An Option For The Falcons?

New Falcons HC Dan Quinn recently mentioned that they could consider bringing in veteran QB Matt Schaub at some point.

“Schaub is certainly somebody that we could [add],” Quinn said, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. “As we get through it, we’ll let you know if we go down that road.”

Matt Ryan is clearly entrenched as the team’s starting quarterback, but there are some question marks regarding their current backup options.

Atlanta re-signed T.J. Yates a few weeks ago and they also have Sean Renfree on their roster as of now.

However, Schaub is familiar with Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system and, at the very least, would give them a more proven backup option in case something were to happen to Ryan.

Schaub, 33, signed a two-year, $13.5 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed after the Raiders sent a sixth-round pick to the Texans for him.

Unfortunately, Schaub lasted just one year in Oakland before he was released in a move that freed up all $5.5 million in cap space for the Raiders.

In 2014, Schaub was active for 11 games, but was limited to playing just 19 snaps. He completed 5 of 10 passes for 57 yards and two interceptions.
