Maurice Jones-Drew Does Not Intend To Holdout Again During The Offseason

2012 has not played out the way Maurice Jones-Drew was hoping it would. His holdout amounted to nothing and he hasn’t played in an NFL game since Week 7 because of a foot injury that he suffered.

Jones-Drew told reporters that even though he entering the final year of his contract, he will not seek a contract extension from them during the offseason and the decision to not do so has nothing to do will ill feeling towards the organization.

“It’s not really up to us, it’s up to them,” said Jones-Drew, via the Florida Times Union. “They have to come to us. Obviously, we tried to come to them this offseason and it didn’t work out so it’s up to them.’

Jones-Drew, 27, is under contract next season for $4.95 million, so there’s at least a chance he could command a decent contract on the open market a little over a year from now.

Although he mentioned that he’s hoping to return for this weekends game against the Patriots, Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters that he’s listed as questionable.
