Maurice Jones-Drew Doesn’t Think He’ll Holdout During The Offseason

Maurice Jones-Drew was asked whether or not he would consider another holdout in the offseason.

“I’m not gonna hold out again,” Jones-Drew said, via NFL.com. “I don’t think so, I wouldn’t do that. I don’t think I would. I mean, I’m saying that now — I don’t know how I’ll feel a couple months from now. But right now, I mean, I did what I thought I had to do. It didn’t work. Oh well.

The Jaguars seem to be unwilling to revisit a new long-term extension for Jones-Drew, so this is certainly a possibility. The fact that Jones-Drew will be 28 next year and has accumulated a lot mileage in recent year’s, wouldn’t help his chances of securing a solid contract on the open market even if he wasn’t under contract for the 2013 season. This all equates to him having very little leverage at any point in the future.
