Last week the San Dieo Chargers made the decision to move on from Shawn Merriman who will become a free agent once he is able to return from his injury.
Several teams have been mentioned as possible suitors for Merriman but he will ultimately have clear waivers before he is able to sign on with a team of his choosing.
Merriman is said to prefer the Ravens, Dolphins, and Cowboys but the Redskins remain an option because of the fact that he is from the D.C. area.
Since Merriman will still have to clear waivers before he can choose is next team, Adam Schefter reported yesterday that there is a good chance that the San Francisco 49ers will take a chance on him.
