Michael Vick Only Dealing With A Rib Contusion

The Eagles have announced that quarterback Michael Vick‘s recent MRI and CT scan “revealed no broken bones and no fractured cartilage.” Philadelphia added that Vick does have a “contusion of his ribs and of the soft tissue area surrounding it.

It would be surprising to see the Eagles play him in either of their remaining preseason games, but Vick looks like a go for Week 1.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick‘s X-rays of his ribs came back negative after he took a shot last night from Patriots linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. However, Vick will have an MRI and CT scan on of his ribs Tuesday for precautionary reasons.

“He’s sore,” head coach Andy Reid said via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “He was trying to talk me into going back in. How sore is sore? He got a good shot there. The precautionary measure is to see if it’s involving cartilage there.”

Vick hasn’t been able to avoid injury so far this preseason. In the Eagles first preseason game, Vick injured is throwing thumb when he attempted a pass and smacked it against Center Jason Kelce‘s helmet. Vick has only been able to take six snaps in both games this preseason. It doesn’t appear that Vick will play Friday night against the Browns as Reid intends to sit most of his starters for that game.
