Michigan OT Taylor Lewan Visited With Giants

Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net reports that Michigan OT Taylor Lewan visited with the Giants on Thursday.

Recent reports mentioned that Lewan could be drafted as high as No. 5 overall given that the Raiders are believed to prefer him to the other offensive tackle prospects such as Auburn’s Greg Robinson and Texas A&M Jake Matthews.

Though Lewan is very highly regarded, most draft analysts have slotted him behind Robinson and Matthews, making this at least somewhat surprising, even though Lewan’s stock appears to be on the rise.

Lewan is considered an exceptional athlete and good run-blocker, but would probably help if he got stronger as he heads into the NFL.

As for the Giants, Lewan has been a popular name linked to them in mock drafts for a few months now, but the team has made a concerted effort to improve their offensive line talent this offseason. They are in a great position to take the best available player, which could end up being someone like Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald or UNC TE Eric Ebron.

We have Lewan going to the Falcons at No. 6 overall in our brand new 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
