Mike Glennon To Start Against Steelers This Weekend

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers are expected to start second-year QB Mike Glennon against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.

This should come as little surprise given that starting quarterback Josh McCown suffered a serious thumb sprain on his throwing hand during last week’s blowout loss to the Falcons. McCown is hoping to avoid surgery and instead rest and rehab his injured thumb, per Rick Stroud.

Tampa Bay added Mike Kafka to their active roster earlier in the day to be the team’s backup option in Week 4.

Last week, Glennon completed 17-of-24 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown against the Falcons.

It will be interesting to see if he’s able to play at a high level and possibly force the team to consider playing him even after McCown returns from his injury.
