Mike Goodson Could Be The Next Jets’ RB To Be Released

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the “expectation” is that RB Mike Goodson will not be a part of the Jets’ 53-man roster at the start of the season.

The Jets waived RB Alex Green on Friday after they claimed RB Daryl Richardson off of waivers earlier in the day.

Goodson, 26, still has two years remaining on his three-year, $6.9 million contract with base salaries of $1 million and $1.5 million coming his way during this time.

However, Goodson has dealt with numerous off-the-field issues since the Jets signed him as a free agent. They have also brought in Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson to be their top-two running backs, so it’s not as though they can offer him even a modest role if Richardson ends up beating him out for the No. 3 running back job.

Last year, Goodson received a four-game suspension to begin the season and later suffered a torn ACL and MCL, which limited him to appearing in just two games.
