Mike Lombardi: “Everybody In The League Knows Randall Cobb Is Available”

Mike Lombardi of TheRinger reiterated in the latest “GM Street” podcast that the Packers have WR Randall Cobb available for trade.

“Everybody in the league knows Randall Cobb is available. All you gotta do is make the call” Lombardi said. “You want to take the 8.6? They’ll give him to you.”

Lombardi added that there clearly isn’t a market for him at his current salary. Beyond that, Lombardi points to Cobb’s injury history as another obvious concern for anyone willing to trade for him and the possibility that he may not be able to pass a physical right now.

A few weeks ago, Lombardi said that Cobb was being shopped around.

“If you offered Green Bay something for Randall Cobb — I don’t know what they would take for him, but I think he’s available,” Lombardi said. “I know his name is being shopped around.

Lombardi added that there are a lot of teams around the NFL looking for receiver help right now.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media later reported that some NFL teams had checked in on Cobb, but Green Bay is not shopping him in offers and expects him to be on their team this season.

Cobb, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2011. He’ll be entering the four-year, $40 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $8.6 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Cobb has appeared in 14 games for the Packers and caught 62 passes for 608 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding a potential Cobb trade as the news is available.

  1. Mike Lombardi really started a rats nest of a rumor here with this one. Packers kept Cobb over Jordy for a reason and say that Cobb is NOT on the trading block. Packers would have show cased Cobb if they wanted to move him. Wake up from your dream Mike Lombardi as you are very wrong. ..
