Mike Pouncey’s Visit With Chargers Extending To Monday

According to Jason La Canfora, free agent C Mike Pouncey‘s visit with the Chargers will extend into Monday, as he’s scheduled to take a physical for the team tomorrow.

La Canfora adds that there are other teams in the mix for Pouncey, but doesn’t offer any specifics as to who these teams are.

The Buccaneers and Colts have been tossed out as potential options for Pouncey, but neither makes a lot of sense right now, given that Tampa Bay made Ryan Jensen the highest-paid center in the NFL and the Colts used a first-round pick on Ryan Kelly last year.

Maybe they could be options if they believe Pouncey would be a capable guard, but it’s hard to say if that’s a real consideration.

Pouncey, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2011. He was entering the fourth year of his six-year, $52.438 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $7.97 million when the Dolphins released him.

In 2017, Pouncey appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 47 offensive tackle out of 85 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
