Mike Wallace Figures To Be Staying In Pittsburgh Now

Before the start of free agency there was plenty of speculation that the Pittsburgh Steelers could end up  losing WR Mike Wallace despite the fact that he was a restricted free agent. The Steelers were way over the cap but managed to get that in order before teams could start throwing offers at the receiver.

ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss mentions that the Patriots signing of Brandon Lloyd effectively eliminates one of the potential suitors for Mike Wallace. Add in the fact that the 49ers signed both Randy Moss and Mario Manningham and removes the top-two teams from the picture. Other than them, it’s hard to imagine a team stepping in and offering up their first-round pick for Wallace.

Pittsburgh should keep one of the games’ best deep threats on their roster for next season but a long-term contract will have to be worked out at some point so this could end up being a story-line for next season.

  1. You never say never, New England still may go fishing, if Brady had Wallace there D would hold up fine, just who could out score them, that would be so fun to watch!  Larry T
