According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, WR Mike Wallace could end up joining the Steelers for their upcoming training camp a few weeks into the process.
It’s been well documented that Wallace is looking for a new contract, and a pretty sizable one at that, but he’ll only have a limited amount of leverage from here on. Holding out of training camp is about it, considering that he’ll need another year of service time to qualify for unrestricted free agency next year. Wallace could actually hold out into the season, but that would be an extreme measure to be taken on his part.
Both sides are still far apart regarding a long-term deal, so this will still require some time before anything is finalized.
