Mike Wallace Unlikely To Be Back With The Steelers Next Season?

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are “unlikely” to use their franchise tag on WR Mike Wallace this offseason.

Wallace is set to hit the open market, but the two sides were unable to reach a long-term agreement before the start of the season, so the team quickly worked to lockup WR Antonio Brown to a six-year, $42.5 million contract.

Wallace was reportedly seeking a huge contract, which is something that Pittsburgh can’t afford given their cap issues. The Miami Dolphins are believed to have interest in Wallace should he be available to them in March.

“I got big plans, no matter what the situation,” he said. “I definitely got big plans for myself and my family. We’ll see how it goes.”

We have Wallace listed as the No. 19 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
