Mike Wallace Won’t Sign His Tender “Until He Has To”

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that WR Mike Wallaceis prepared to sit out offseason drills and at least the start of training camp.”

Schefter adds that Wallace has informed the Steelers that he’s not going to sign his restricted free agent tender “until he has to.”

Pittsburgh place a first-round tender on him which will pay him $2.7 million for the 2012 season. Wallace appears to be looking for a huge pay increase that would make him a top-five salary. He’ll have until until June 15th to sign his tender or the Steelers can drop the price to $577,500.

Things could end up getting pretty contentious by the time the June deadline rolls around, so it will be interesting to see how the Steelers handle the situation.
