Monday’s Peyton Manning Update

It’s really amazing that Peyton Manning is drawing some attention away from the Super Bowl this year but his status is by far the biggest story-line of the offseason.

  • Sports Illustrated’s Peter King reports that Manning is “struggling” to get healthy and adds that we could be months away from knowing whether or not he’ll be able to play football again.
  • Cooper Manning, Peyton’s other brother, agrees that his future is in doubt but added that he’s doing everything possible to return next season.“What I do know is Peyton is going to do every single thing a human being can possibly do to get ready to play again,” Cooper told Albert Breer of NFL.com. “Where, when and how he’ll play, that’s all up in the air. But as far as his body goes, Peyton’s smart, he’ll know what to do.

Anyone predicting what will happen now going forward is just wasting their breath. But he is working as hard as anyone can work to get out there again.”

  • Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic writes that the Cardinals are unlikely to pursue Manning if he becomes available because of the kind of investment that it would require from the team.
  •  Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that a person with knowledge of the situation believes that the Washington Redskins would have interest in Manning if he’s healthy.

Manning’s little brother, Cooper, is probably right when he says that making predictions as to what will happen right now is a worthless activity. There will be more team’s interested than just the current speculative options if he proves to be healthy. We’re just keeping you updated on the situation.
