Monte Kiffin An Option For The Chiefs’ DC Position?

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com mentions that there’s a reasonable chance that Monte Kiffin could end up as the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive coordinator in 2013

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer adds the chances of this happening are “very real.”

Kiffin is widely regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators around. He left Tampa Bay to help his son, Lane Kiffin, at the University of Southern California, which hasn’t exactly gone as well as many would have thought.

Considering that Andy Reid has agreed to become the next head coach of the Chiefs and the fact that his Eagles have struggled on the defensive side of the ball, it would make sense for him to target a reliable coach with a proven track record.

It’s worth noting that Kiffin generally runs a Tampa 2 defensive scheme and the Chiefs are built for a 3-4, so changes in personnel could follow if they do in fact pursue someone like Kiffin.
