More Buzz That Changes Could Be Coming To Dolphins’ Front Office

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross could change his “trio of top football people” this offseason.

According to Salguero, Dolphins HC Adam Gase is “no guarantee” to return and executive Mike Tannenbaum is the “top target” to possibly lose his job.

As of now, people within the Dolphins are reportedly trying to solidify their power and in turn, save their jobs.

Salguero mentions that no decision has been made at this point in time, but given that  Tannenbaum is the person responsible for the team’s overall philosophy of not bottoming out to rebuild and instead building a team as you go, he should be held responsible if changes are to be made.

Gase is still owed millions of dollars, but even that isn’t enough to guarantee he’ll be back next year. Multiple sources have told Salguero that Gase is “getting the opposite of an endorsement” from Dolphins vice chairman Matt Higgins, who was responsible for hiring Tannenbaum.

While there’s no indication as to what Ross will do, Salguero writes that everyone understands Ross wants a plan for changing the Dolphins’ course after the season.

Last week, a league source with knowledge of the situation told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Ross is undecided about whether he’ll make changes to the team after the season and to what extent those changes would be.

If the Dolphins are able to make the playoffs, Florio says it would go a long way towards Ross sticking with the status quo. However, should Miami miss the postseason, Florio says things could be up for discussions when it comes to Tannenbaum, Chris Grier, and Gase.

One thing that could help the current regime, according to Florio, is the fact that they’ve encountered numerous and various types of adversity in the past two years and the team continues to fight for wins.

Florio mentions that the Dolphins had a tough time luring notable candidates to Miami before they hired Gase and it’s possible an overhaul could prevent them landing an “A” list target.

We’ll have more regarding the Dolphins as the news is available.
