More Concerns Regarding Peyton Manning Arm Strength

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been so-so this year as he has come back from multiple neck surgeries. His five touchdown passes to three interceptions aren’t the type of number we’re use to seeing out the 11-time pro bowler. While there has been some concerns about whether Manning can throw or if he still has it, ESPN’s Ron Jaworski thinks Peyton will be alright.

“It’s still a work in progress,” said Jaworski on Monday morning’s Sportscenter, via Pro Football Talk. “And we have to remember Peyton is still going through therapy to get his arm strength to 100 percent. The only thing that really bothers me about Peyton right now, is the ball is not spinning out of his hand ala an Aaron Rodgers, a Matthew Stafford, the guys who really spin it. So I think that eventually will come when he gets healthy. But he made some mistakes in his progressions and reads, which is unusual for Peyton Manning. But in due time, all these misreads will be corrected.”

Albert Breer of NFL.com passes along a quote from a veteran NFL scout who isn’t as optimistic about Manning’s ability moving forward.

“Peyton Manning can’t throw the ball anymore,” said the scout.

Manning has shown glimpses of his old self in the previous two weeks as he has nearly led the Broncos back from early game deficits. While both comebacks couldn’t be completed, the fact that he has shown signs of what he use to be could be an indication that it’s only a matter of time before he’s the Manning of old. Manning will have a chance to get himself and the Broncos back on track Sunday, as they face a Raiders defense that has had trouble with defending the pass this season.
