More Cuts Coming For The Raiders?

Adam Caplan of the Sideline View writes that the Oakland Raiders could continue to make roster cuts in the coming weeks in an attempt to get them in better a better cap situation.

Caplan lists: DT Tommy Kelly ($6 million base salary), OLB Aaron Curry ($5.7575 million base salary), S Michael Huff ($4 million base salary/over $9.8 cap number) and DT John Henderson ($4 million base salary) as players that could be released in the coming days.

Kamerion Wimbley‘s name has also come up in recent days because of his $11 million salary that will be guaranteed on March 17th according to Caplan’s sources. The problem is that they would still have to pay $6.5 million of Wimbley’s salary even if he’s released and without a clear-cut replacement on their roster, it seems like he’s a better candidate to stick around.

Oakland recently released CB Stanford Routt who wound up signing with the divisional rival Kansas City Chiefs despite the fact that the Raiders needed help at the position to begin with. This is shaping up to be a difficult transition for the silver and black as they only have two picks in this year’s draft and both of them aren’t until the 5th and 6th rounds.

  1. Please god let Aaron Curry hit the free agent market..It isn’t a pressing need by any means but a LB core of Curry, Urlacher, Briggs sounds AMAZING..and the Bears have plenty of cap room
