More On Peyton Manning’s Next Team: Redskins, Seahawks, Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals

ESPN’s John Clayton mentions that Peyton Manning‘s price tag could be the biggest factor in determining whether or not the Arizona Cardinals will pursue him in the coming months.

They were not cheap in anything they did in last offseason,” Clayton said, via ArizonaSports.com. “They put a lot of money out in free agency; they put a lot of money out in the Kevin Kolb trade. I just don’t know if they’re ready to say goodbye to Kevin Kolb in one year.”

The Kolb trade hasn’t worked out as planned but he dealt with a number of injuries last season and it would be surprising to see them cut him loose so early into his contract. Manning will be 36 at the start of the 2012 so the Cardinals would essentially be trying to recreate their Super Bowl from a few years ago by adding another veteran quarterback.

Washington Redskins

John Keim of the Washington Examiner takes a look at the pro’s and con’s of Peyton Manning signing with the Redskins from both sides perspective.

Keim notes that the Redskins have the money to spend and mentions Manning’s ability to make those around him better as being two reasons why they should sign him. On top of that, he adds that Mike Shanahan, 60, is in a win now situation.

More interesting than that are the reasons why Manning may not be a good fit for the team.

Keim cites the obvious concerns, being Manning’s age and injury, as well as the surrounding group of players as being a possible deterrent. Manning would have to learn a new Shanahan’s offense and his role would ultimately change now that he can’t run the offense by himself.

One of our readers made another good point earlier in the day that Manning would have to play his brother Eli twice a year which would be a media circus for both teams.

Seattle Seahawks

Brock Huard of ESPN 710 AM is a former of teammate of Manning’s and made the case for the Seahawks signing Manning.

Huard mentions that the Seahawks have a better coaching staff in place that is somewhat close to the offense that he ran under Tom Moore and adds that the team has a better group of player makers around.

Money is not going to be the issue when it comes to Manning’s next team but current roster and coaching staffs will be a determining factor for him.
