Things could be getting progressively worse for Mike Wallace and the Steelers as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is now reporting that the team might be willing to allow their lightning fast wideout to “test the open market.“
Pittsburgh’s salary cap issue is the major contributing factor to this ongoing dilemma, but you can’t overlook the fact
s that Wallace is looking to get paid and there just happens to be a number of teams in need of a legitimate deep threat.
All in all,
the Steelers will have to figure out a way to keep Mike Wallace. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that another team could swoop in and sign him away if the Steelers let him test the market. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and if Wallace will be open to taking less from the team that drafted him in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
