Multiple Teams In Trade Market For CB Help Including Patriots

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the a number of teams including the Patriots are in the trade market for cornerback help ahead of today’s deadline.

Unfortunately, Rapoport adds that there are very few options available right now, as everyone appears to be looking for cornerbacks or offensive tackles.

The Patriots have been one of the most active teams at the trade deadline in years past, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they’re at least making some calls.

Yesterday, Patriots HC Bill Belichick said that they’re “always open to discussions” regarding trades with other teams.

“We’re always open to discussions. I think everybody in league probably knows our phone lines are open,” Belichick said, per Mike Reiss.

As for whether they could complete a deal before the deadline, Belichick said: “Who knows? It’s hard to tell. It takes two to make a deal. It has to be the right situation,” per Reiss.

It’s hard to say what cornerbacks are even available right now, given the lack of buzz regarding the position.

Some have suggested that Titans CB Jason McCourty could make sense for the Patriots, while offers believe the Buccaneers should listen to offers for Alterraun Verner, but these are just speculative ideas and not based on reports.

We’ll have more regarding potential trades as the news is available.
