Multiple Teams Interested In RB Danny Woodhead Including Broncos

Alex Marvez of the Sporting News reports that free agent RB Danny Woodhead has received interest from multiple teams including the Broncos.

The Broncos have an obvious connection to Woodhead, considering that they hired former Chargers HC Mike McCoy as their offensive coordinator.

Chargers GM Tom Telesco said last Thursday at the NFL Combine that the team is in talks with Woodhead regarding a contract extension.

We think he’s a valuable part of our offense,” Telesco said, via Eric D. Williams of ESPN. “In his four years for us he’s been a very productive player. He’s a great person, great teammate. And he’s someone I’d like to keep here long-term, and we’ve been in discussions on that.”

Woodhead landed on the season-ending injured reserve back in September with a torn ACL just two weeks into the regular season. He appears to be on track for a full recovery and the Chargers seem comfortable with him moving forward.

Woodhead, 32, finished a three-year, $7.25 million contract and made a base salary of $2 million for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Woodhead appeared in two games and rushed for 116 yards on 19 carries (6.1 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 35 yards receiving and a touchdown.

We’ll have more regarding Woodhead as the news is available.
