Mutual Interest Between Rams & K Greg Zuerlein In New Deal

Rams HC Jeff Fisher told reporters on Wednesday that there’s “mutual interest” between them and free agent K Greg Zuerlein in a new contract, per Nick Wagoner.

However, Fisher did say that their plans include bringing in real competition at kicker this summer.

Zuerlein, 28, was taken by the Rams in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL draft. He played out his rookie contract and is testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time.

He’s currently among the best kickers still available in the free agent market.

In 2015, Zuerlein appeared in 14 games for the Rams and converted just 20 of 30 field goal attempts (66.7 percent) to go along with 26 of 28 extra point tries. He added 38 touchbacks.
