Earlier today, reports surfaced that the Lions had parted ways with veteran WR Nate Burleson. He later confirmed the move via his Twitter account.
Burleson joined Detroit Sports 105.1 FM (via the Detroit News) later on Thursday and mentioned that he has already been contacted by a couple of teams and expects to have something done in the near future.
Burleson, 32, previously said that he was open to accepting a pay cut to be back with the Lions, but Detroit elected to take the cap relief. Reports have since indicated that the Lions have no intention of re-signing Burleson at a reduced rate.
- Dave Birkett mentioned that the Cowboys will likely be a popular speculative option for Burleson, but he also mentioned the Buccaneers as another team to watch.
Last year, totaled 39 receptions for 461 yards receiving and one touchdown over the course of nine games for the Lions.
