Ndamukong Suh In Line For A Contract That Includes $60M Guaranteed & $17M Per Year?

Jason La Canfora continues to hear that free agent DT Ndamukong Suh will end up making $17 million per year in his next contract with over $60 million in guarantees.

According to La Canfora, if Suh doesn’t eventually sign with the Dolphins, “it won’t be for a lack of effort” on their part.

This fits with a report from Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports last night that said Suh’s next contract could ultimately exceed $60 million guaranteed when all is said and done.

Assuming the $60 million figure is accurate, Suh would surpass J.J. Watt as the highest paid defensive player in the league in terms of guaranteed money, which has been the expectation all along.

All sign continue to point to the Dolphins as the team to watch for Suh.

  • Earlier in the day, Mike Florio mentioned that Miami has the best chance of landing Suh is the Dolphins, as owner Stephen Ross and new VP of football operations Mike Tannenbaum both want to “make a splash.
  • Florio also stresses the significance of the no income in the state of Florida, which is a big difference from California (13.3 percent) and Michigan (4.25 percent).

The problem for Miami is that adding a contract that big to their books would likely result in them making a number of roster moves to clear additional cap space.

Others have said that the ColtsGiants, Raiders, Jaguars, and Buccaneers could also be in the running to sign Suh, and at least a chance that the Lions could retain him.

Suh, 27, recorded 51 tackles, 8.5 sacks and three pass defenses over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 defensive tackle in the league.

We have Suh currently ranked as the No. 1 player in our Top 100 Free Agents List.
