New Bills WR Jordan Matthews “Week To Week” With Chip Fracture In His Sternum

The Buffalo Bills announced Monday morning that newly acquired WR Jordan Matthews is “week to week” with a “chip fracture in his sternum.”

Former NFL physician David Chao expects Matthews to be fine in time for the regular season, but this will likely limit his practice time and could impact his ability to get acclimated to the Bills’ offensive system.

Matthews, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2014. He’s currently entering the third year of his four-year, $4,949,269 contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,094,901 for the 2017 season.

The Eagles just recently traded Matthews and a 2018 third-round pick to the Bills in return for CB Ronald Darby.

In 2016, Matthews appeared in 14 games for the Eagles and caught 73 passes for 804 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 57 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
