In the first half of Thursday’s win over the New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams wide-receiver, Donnie Avery, went down with a knee injury, leaving the Rams very thin and very young at the position.
Sports Illustrated’s Ross Tucker commented on the situation by wondering if the Rams have become a new option for Chargers wideout Vincent Jackson. Since Jackson is holding out and appears to have no chance of reaching an agreement with San Diego, his name has been connected to several different organizations around the NFL but no one other than Seattle has been given permission to negotiate a new deal with him.
Since the Jackson is still a fairly young receiver but has proven himself on the NFL level, he could bring some veteran leadership and big-play ability to a really young group of receivers. His presence may be exactly what the team needs in order to develop into a successful franchise.
As of now this is purely a speculative option offered by Ross Rucker but it’s an interesting idea none-the-less.
