New York Jets DL Kendrick Ellis To Serve 45 Days In Jail

ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports on Twitter that New York Jets defensive lineman Kendrick Ellis will serve 45 days in jail, effective June 15, for his assault arrest in 2010.

June 15 is the day that minicamp ends. Ellis will miss the first few days of training camp, and the league could also take disciplinary action.

The 2011 third-round draft pick will serve 90 days behind bars in total, but it appears that the sentence has been split. Ellis is currently eligible to play in Week 1, when the Jets host the Buffalo Bills on September 9.
