NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott believes that he will “naturally” develop chemistry with recently acquired WR Amari Cooper.

It will be fun,” Prescott said, via Kate Hairopoulos of SportsDay. “He’s a guy that his talent speaks for himself, he’s going to run good routes, he’s going to get open. When you have a guy like that, it will just happen naturally.

Prescott added that Cooper is not a “magic pill” which will correct all the problems with the offense.

This isn’t the magic pill,” Prescott said. “One player isn’t going to make all these errors that we’ve had go away. But we have to do a better job, and we’re going to…find a way to play complementary football together. Just execution. When we start doing that and you add a player like Amari Cooper in there, then that’s where this offense takes the next step.”

Eagles

  • Albert Breer writes that barring a drop in the Bills’ asking price for LeSean McCoy, it’s unlikely the Eagles will trade for a running back.
  • Breer mentions that acquiring a receiver is still a possibility, but a defensive back is “more likely.”
  • The Eagles announced Thursday that LB Nate Gerry (ankle, knee), CB Sidney Jones (hamstring), and RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) did not travel with the team to London for their Week 8 game.

Giants

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins said Thursday that he has no interest in being traded, despite the fact that his name has come up as a possible trade candidate in recent days.

“No,” Jenkins said, via NJ.com. “Not my thinking. No.  Not my thoughts. That’s something they made in the office. Whatever happened, it happened. I’m just here to play football.

Jenkins added that he wants to remain in New York as a member of the Giants.

No, never,” Jenkins said. “I want to be here. I’m happy I’m here. Whatever decision they make, they make. I’ll go with it. Business is business.

  • Ralph Vacchiano reports that the Giants are willing to discuss any player they believe won’t be part of their future, no matter how good that player might be.
  • Vacchiano lists CB Janoris Jenkins, LB Olivier Vernon, S Landon Collins and LB Alec Ogletree as some players to watch in the coming days.
