NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Cowboys

Cowboys LB Jaylon Smith said he feels “substantially better” from the torn ACL that forced him to miss his entire rookie season in 2016.

Oh man, well I played an entire season in the National Football League. I played every game, started [six] of them, improved each week,” Smith said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I feel amazing. Just the overall comfort of everything I had to go through, it was just a tremendous first year, and it’s going to be a great one this year.”

Smith feels that he continuously improved throughout the 2017 season and expects to continue with his progress this year.

It showed on the field, week by week my growth, my comfort and just being able to play the position again,” he said. “I’m prepared and I’m ready to tackle even more this year. It’s going to be a great year,” said Smith.

Eagles

Giants

  • According to Mike Garafolo, there is “a lot more buzz” about the Giants selecting NC State DE Bradley Chubb at No. 2 overall and teams below New York expect them to take the defensive end.
  • Although Garafolo mentions that drafting Penn State RB Saquon Barkley and trading down is still “in play” for New York, he hears that Chubb’s visit with the Giants went “extremely well” and that the coaching staff and front office came away “very impressed” with him.
  • The Giants are hosting UCLA QB Josh Rosen for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday and will meet with Josh Allen and Sam Darnold in the coming days. (Jordana Raanan)
