NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Cowboys

Cowboys Executive VP Stephen Jones said that they’re expecting newly acquired RB/WR Tavon Austin to get 12 to 24 touches per game on offense.

I think we can get him the ball — I don’t want to speak for Jason, but I think we can get him the ball a dozen, twenty, two dozen times a game. And then you throw the return game on top of it and I think it’s somebody we can really utilize,” Jones said, per Josh Norris.

Eagles

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said Friday that while he’s “highly encouraged” with where QB Carson Wentz is at in his return from an ACL tear, they’re not going to rush his return.

I’m highly encouraged where he’s at right now,” Pederson said, via Philly.com. “He’s making progress each day. We’ll just continue that process. He continues to throw and get stronger.

“There’s a fine line, too, this time of year of maybe trying to do too much too soon. Our [trainers] are on top of it. He’s on top of it. He’s managing it extremely well.

“I love the enthusiasm,” Pederson said. “I want that from all our players, obviously. Go back to Sidney Jones — I’m not going to rush him out there. I don’t want to expose him. He’ll be ready when he’s ready and when we feel he’s ready.”
