NFC East Notes: Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Eagles

Eagles HC Doug Pederson has liked what he’s seen from second-round TE Dallas Goedert up to this point.

“He detailed the routes. He had great hands,” Peterson said, via NBC Philadelphia. “He’s a big target, made some plays in the red zone last week [and] making some plays this week.

Eagles TEs coach Justin Peelle added that Goedert’s catching ability was one of the main reasons they drafted him a few months ago.

Catching the ball is one of the reasons we drafted him,” Peelle said. “He’s got phenomenal hands, he’s got great body control. Yes, that is obviously a strength of his. He’s made a couple catches out here. Once we get into live games, put the pads on, where the defense is (facing him) I wouldn’t expect that to change. He’s always had good hand-eye coordination.”

Giants

Giants QB Eli Manning says he believes WR Sterling Shepard is “primed for a big year.”

“I thought Sterling had a great camp during the spring,” Manning said, via Matt Lombardo of NJ.com. “He’s understanding the coverages, understanding the route combinations, he understands zone and man, and how to make little moves to get open against different techniques.”

As for Odell Beckham Jr, Manning said they’re forward to having him back and he looks like his old self.

Odell looked healthy,” Manning said, via ESPN.com. “He was running routes full speed, making cuts and seemed to be his old self. So I’m excited about that and that he can go out there and run all the routes.

“So, excited to get him back going once training camp hits up. And getting on the same page, there are always new routes and new tweaks to the offense. But I know he’s been working hard and is going to have a big year.
