NFC East Rumors: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Cowboys

  • Regarding Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Jason La Canfora gets the sense that Dallas won’t release and may instead opt to sign him to a restructured contract.
  • From there, La Canfora says that the Cowboys will have to franchise DE DeMarcus Lawrence and then work on a long-term deal.
  • Another player to watch for the Cowboys is G Zack Martin, who is next in line for a massive contract.

Eagles

  • The more Jason La Canfora speaks with executives around the NFL, the more convinced he is that the Eagles will keep Nick Foles unless they can get “significant” value for him.
  • Peter King of TheMMQB.com believes it would take two first-round picks for the Eagles to even consider trading Foles. However, La Canfora isn’t buying this.
  • An NFL executive tells La Canfora that he expects Philadelphia to see what’s available for veteran LT Jason Peters in the trade market: “The offense operated well without Peters, and he’d have some value. The kid who filled in is nothing special, but the offensive line as a whole was fine without Peters.
  • From there, La Canfora can see the Eagles not picking up WR Torrey Smith‘s option and opening extension talks with DE Brandon Graham.

Giants

  • Jason La Canfora expects the Giants to field trade offers for CB Eli Apple in the coming months and draft a quarterback in the first round.
  • All indications have been that the Giants will keep Eli Manning in place as their starter for the 2018 season.
  • Sources have told La Canfora that veteran WR Brandon Marshall is not expected to be back in New York.
  • Signing Odell Beckham Jr and Landon Collins to contract extensions could be the best way for the Giants to get around some of their immediate cap issues, writes La Canfora.

Redskins

  • According to Jason La Canfora, no one is buying the tag-and-trade scenario involving Kirk Cousins.
  • La Canfora reports that there “rumblings” about Josh Norman‘s future in Washington: “I hear that Norman hates the front office and would want to leave anyway. Something could happen there,” a personnel director tells La Canfora.
  • La Canfora adds that Su’a Cravens could also be gone now that he has been reinstated.
