NFC Notes: 49ers, Bears, Packers

49ers

  • According to Matt Barrows, Broncos DC Joe Woods is worth keeping an eye on for the 49ers’ DBs coaching position.
  • Adam Caplan reports that the 49ers are hiring Kris Kocurek as their defensive line coach.

Bears

  • Bears GM Ryan Pace said Monday that WR Anthony Miller will undergo shoulder surgery. (Jeff Dickerson)
  • Bears HC Matt Nagy mentioned that he talked to former Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt a week ago to ask how he’s doing personally: “A good conversation. It’s an unfortunate situation (and) learning lesson for everybody.” (Rich Campbell)
  • Nagy added that he believes in second chances “but every situation is different.
  • Pace clarified they “we’re not even close to that point” of pursuing a contract with Hunt. (Rich Campbell)

Packers

  • Paul Kuharsky reports that no one from Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff will be leaving to join Matt LaFleur with the Packers.
  • Tom Silverstein reports that the Packers have shown interest in Dolphins assistant HC/offense Shawn Jefferson. Silverstein adds that Jefferson could be considered for the Packers’ WRs coaching job.
  • Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports that the Packers will retain DL coach Jerry Montgomery and TEs coach Brian Angelichio, but it remains to be seen what their titles will be.
  • According to Demovsky, Packers defensive run game coordinator/LBs coach Patrick Graham may not return, Green Bay will allow him to join the Dolphins’ coaching staff.
