NFC Notes: 49ers, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Saints

49ers

  • Following the report that the 49ers were among the teams to speak to the Chiefs about CB Marcus Peters before they agreed to a trade with the Rams, Matt Barrows reports that San Francisco looked into the possibility of trading for Peters, but did not make an offer.
  • According to Barrows, it appears as though 49ers plan to check into every available cornerback this offseason.
  • Ian Rapoport suggests that the 49ers could be a team to watch for Rams free agent CB Trumaine Johnson this offseason.

Buccaneers

  • Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times considers Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bears QB Mike Glennon to be the “best bets” for the Buccaneers this offseason in terms of a possible backup to Jameis Winston.
  • Stroud expects the Buccaneers to monitor Glennon “closely” this offseason when/if he’s released by the Bears.

Cowboys

Saints

  • According to the Josh Katzenstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints Pro Bowl DE Cameron Jordan underwent minor surgery on his left foot and is expected to be recovered from the operation in 4-6 weeks.
  • Katzenstein adds that Jordan’s surgery was elective and had more to do with pain tolerance than any significant injury.
